Grand Bazaar of Bursa
The Grand Bazaar of Bursa mirrors the city's status as the first Ottoman capital and an early trade hub.
Starting mainly from the 14th century, the bazaar was the center of a gradual expansion process that included mosques, inns, and caravan routes.
The bazaar is co-dependent with Koza Han, the place of silk trade which has been the economic base of Bursa for centuries.
It is through the narrow covered streets, tiny artisans' workshops, and traditional stores that one can still see the layout of an Ottoman commercial district and consequently get a glimpse of the daily life, craftsmanship, and commerce in historic Bursa.
